GATE 2018 Online Registration

The GATE 2018 Online Registration has been started from 1st September 2017 by IIT Guwahati for all eligible candidates. The whole application process will be done through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The last date to fill the online GATE 2018 application form is October 5, 2017. Candidates need not send any hard copy of their GATE application form 2018 to any of the IIT’s zonal GATE offices. GATE 2018 application form procedure involves registration, filling personal and academic details, uploading photograph, signature and payment of application fees. While filling the application form of GATE 2018, the candidates will also have to select three exam centers. All candidates who want to apply for PSU’s recruiting through GATE will also have to fill and submit the application form. What to Keep Ready Before Filling GATE Application Form 2018

 

The following documents must also be kept ready by the candidates before filling GATE 2018 Online Registration Application Form:

  • Photograph, signature and left thumb impression of the candidate has to be kept scanned and ready by the candidates for uploading. The detailed specifications of the documents are mentioned below.
  • Valid Photo Identity Card (Driving License/ Passport/ PAN Card/ Voter ID/ Aadhaar UID/ College ID/ Employee Identification Card/ Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address). International students have to enter their passport details only.
  • Candidates who have completed their graduation in 2017 or earlier – Degree Certificate/ Provisional Certificate/ Course Completion Certificate.
  • In case of final year students – Copy of the Marks Sheet of the fifth or sixth or seventh semester as the case may be
  • Final year students – Provisional Certificate Letter  as per format issued by the Head of Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Department
  • For candidates in final year of AMIE –  mark sheet for section A of AMIE in case of professional equivalent qualifications
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable) as per given format
  • Disability Certificate (if applicable) as per given format
  • Candidates are pursuing higher degree or masters must submit the qualifying degree certificate or provisional one
  • Candidates with backlogs must upload  copy of any of the mark sheet of the final year issued from the Institute where studying

How to Fill GATE Application Form 2018

 

The application process of GATE 2018 Online Registration will be held in online mode. The candidates will be required to follow the given six step process to successfully fill and submit the application form of GATE 2018.

Step 1 – Registration

 

During GATE 2018 Online Registration in application form, the candidates will have to enter their email ID, mobile number and a GOAPS password of their own choice. The email and mobile number submitted must be valid as all communication will be sent through them via SMS and Email. For international students however, all communication will be sent through email. Candidates will have to ensure that their selected password is unique. It is advised that the candidates avoid using their name, date of birth or some string of numbers/ letters. This should be done to ensure that the password is not misused.

 

After successful registration, an email containing the GOAPS Enrollment ID will be sent to the registered email id of the candidate. The ID has to be kept safe as it will be used by the candidates for all future login.

 

Step 2 – Filling of GATE Application Form

 

In the next step of GATE application form 2018, the candidates will have to enter all of the required information and submit it.  The details which have to be provided are:

  • Personal Details: Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Parent’s Name, Email ID, Mobile Number and more has to be submitted.
  • Academic Details: The candidates will be required to enter all of their details regarding their academics. Information about the candidate’s undergraduate degree has to be submitted.
  • Contact Information: The address and contact information of the candidates will have to be provided.
  • GATE Exam Centres: While filling the online application form the candidates will have to submit three preferred exam centres from the provided list.
  • Valid Photo ID: Details regarding the photo ID which the candidates will carry for the examination will have to be submitted.

Step 3 – Uploading of Required Documents

 

During the next step of GATE 2018 application form, the candidates will have to upload their scanned photograph, signature and thumb impression as per the specifications mentioned below in the table. The candidates will also have to upload their eligibility certificates. Category certificates have to be uploaded if applicable.

 

The candidates are advised to keep the list of documents and other details ready before they try to fill the application form of GATE 2018. This will ease the process for candidates who can avoid any delays while filling the GATE application form 2018.

The colour photograph should be taken professionally in a white or a very light background.

The signature should be done in a rectangular box of size 2 cm x 7 cm on an A4 white paper.

Candidates should have signed with a black or dark blue ink. The signature should not be in capital letters.

The signature has to be digitally scanned by a professional using a scanner and cropped to the box professionally.

Minimum resolution: 80 x 280 pixels

3Thumb Impression

On an A4 white paper, the candidates will have to draw a rectangular box of size 3 cm x 5 cm.

The left thumb impression has to be marked in this box using a blue or black stamp pad. In case the left thumb is difficult to access due to some reason, then the candidates can upload their right thumb impression.

For those candidates who are unable to provide thumb impression for any reason, can give an impression of any finger.

The thumb impression must be professionally scanned and cropped to the box.

Step 4 – Preview of Filled Application Form

 

Before the payment of fees, the candidates will be shown a “Preview” of the filled GATE 2018 application form. In the preview, the candidates can check for any mistakes made while filling the application form of GATE 2018. Editing and corrections can be done. After all changes are made, the candidates will have to select “Confirm and Final Submit”. No changes can be done after confirmation.

 

Step 5 – Payment of Application Fees

 

After the required documents are uploaded in the application form of GATE 2018, the candidates will have to pay the application fees. Candidates will be required to pay the fees through online (net banking or debit/credit card) or offline mode (e-challan). Additional bank charges may be applicable during the transaction. A unique “Fee Payment Number” will be generated which has to be kept safely by the candidates. The number has to be submitted during the end stage of the application process.

 

The candidates who belong to SC/ST/PwD category will have to upload a valid documentary evidence for concession in fees.

Step 6 – Submission of Filled Application Form

 

The final step in the application process is the submission of the filled GATE application form 2018. Before submitting the application form of GATE 2018, the candidates will be able to preview the information they have filled and edit if any discrepancies are found. No changes will be allowed after final submission. No documents have to be sent to the authorities.

Steps to Check GATE 2018 Application Status

 

The GATE application form status can be checked by the candidates where they will be informed about the status of their registration. The following steps indicate how the application status can be checked.

  • The link to check the application status will be available here as soon as it is released.
  • The candidates will have to enter their details i.e., GATE 2017 Enrollment ID/Email ID and Password.
  • The application status of the candidates will be displayed.
  • The candidates will be able to take corrective action in case of any discrepancies.

Forgot Enrollment ID or Password?

 

In case the candidates forget their enrollment id or password, a series of options are present to check their lost credentials and log into their account.

  • Forgot Enrollment ID or not received their Enrollment ID via Email – The candidates will have to select this option and submit their registered mobile number and password. The enrollment ID will be sent via SMS to the candidate’s mobile number.
  • Forgot Password – In this case, the candidates will have to provide their enrollment ID and password. Similarly, the password will be sent to the registered mobile number.
  • Forgot Enrollment ID and Password –  The candidate who has paid the fees will have to contact their zonal office. If the candidate has not paid yet then he/she will have to register themselves again.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) of GATE 2018 Application Form

 

Q. How do I pay the application fees of GATE 2018?

Ans: Payment of the application fees of GATE 2018 can be done in either online (net banking, credit card, debit card) or offline mode (e-challan).

 

Online Mode: The candidates will be able to pay their fees through net banking, credit card or debit card. After payment is done, the candidates will be redirected back to the application page where details of the candidate will have to be filled.  A PDF consisting of all the transaction details will be generated for the candidates.

 

Offline Mode: The candidates will have to print the generated e-challan and deposit the fees at the nearest SBI branch.

 

Q. Will the application form be available only in online mode?

Ans: Yes! GATE 2018 application form will be available only in online mode.

 

Q. Can I change my paper and examination city after submission of application form?

Ans: No, the paper cannot be changed after the submission of the application form. However, the examination city will be open for change tentatively till November 2017 after paying a fee of Rs. 400 in online mode.
