GATE 2020 Basic Features

GATE- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an examination which opens the gateway to booming public organizations and the field of research. GATE is an All-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country by the GATE Committee comprising of Faculty members from IISc, Bangalore and other seven IIT’s on behalf of the National Coordinating Board, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development.

In GATE examination, candidates must apply for only one out of the 24 papers available. Candidates are expected to appear in a paper appropriate to the discipline of their qualifying degree. However, candidates are free to choose any paper according to their admission plan, keeping in mind the eligibility criteria of the institutions in which they wish to seek admission.

GATE 2022 exam will be conducted by the IIT, Delhi. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level examination. It is conducted to offer admission into masters & direct doctoral programs in engineering/technology/architecture and doctoral programs in relevant branches of science.

There are some major changes has been done for the GATE 2022 examination, the GATE 2022 examination will be conducted for the total of 25 papers. A new paper Statistics (Code – ST) has been added. Students will also get an opportunity to submit the application form after the due date. Candidate will register & fill application only through online mode on the official website.

Candidates also have to fill ID number specified in any of the following, i.e. Aadhaar-UID, College ID, Driving License, Employee ID, Passport, PAN Card & Voter ID.  There will be no need to send any hard copy of application/documents to the officials.  Candidates should take a print copy of GATE application form 2022 for further references.

GATE 2022 Application Fee will be deposited through online mode by using either net banking or debit card or credit card. The fee will be non-refundable & non-transferable. The fee charges are different for different case i.e. OBC, ST, general and exams centers for applicant in foreign nations. You can find detailed information about GATE 2020 here.

The question asked will be in two formats, MCQ and NAT and the marks allotted for each question will be 1 or 2 marks. There will be negative marking in the case of MCQs, if the allotted mark is 1 then the deducted marks will be 1/3 if the answer is wrong and 2/3 marks will be deducted if the question weights 2 marks accordingly.

The format of question paper for GATE exam 2022: Question paper will be divided into two sections, part A, and part B respectively. As usual part A will be the compulsory section and will be having the question for 100 marks. There will be the furthermore subsection in the section B which will be divided according to subject combinations and question related to that particular subject. Each subsection in Section B will be of 85 marks.
